Nipple confusion can be frustrating and is a real issue. When an infant is breastfed only and then introduced to a bottle, he may have some issues adjusting to the introduction of the new nipple and the flow of the bottle. When this occurs it is best to try a few different bottles with different nipple sizes. More and more companies are making bottles with wider and larger nipples here are some of the bottles I have had success with in my business. Again, you be the judge as to what your child’s nipple preference may be, some babies do well with the smaller nipple sizes and some do well with the wider nipple sizes.
Most of these bottles also help with gas and colic. It is best to try a few options out consistently for a few days before you make your decision on if your baby will take it or not. Remember that consistency is key and once your baby gets use to their bottle life may just get a little easier for you and you can actually have a little break and allow your husband or another family member to bond with your child and experience the joy of feeding them.
